What Is UV DTF Printing?

UV DTF (Ultraviolet Direct to Film) printing is a hybrid technology that prints your design onto a special adhesive film using UV-curable inks. The ink is instantly cured by UV light during printing, resulting in a ready-to-transfer image with excellent color and durability. Unlike standard UV printers that print directly onto the object, UV DTF printers create a “crystal sticker” that can be applied to curved, irregular, or hard-to-print surfaces-such as metal, glass, wood, acrylic, and more.

How the UV DTF Printing Process Works

  • Design Preparation: Create your artwork using design software and ensure it fits your target substrate.
  • Printing on Film: Print the design onto the base (A) film using UV-curable inks. The built-in UV lamp cures the ink instantly, locking in color and detail.
  • Laminating: Laminate the printed A film with a backing (B) film using a laminator. This step protects the print and prepares it for transfer.
  • Transfer to Substrate: Cut out the desired design, peel off the base film, and apply the sticker to the object’s surface. Gently press to ensure adhesion, then remove the backing film to reveal the finished transfer.
